Raw Art Journaling - One-Sentence Journaling Monday evening 6:30 - 9:30 $70
  Quinn McDonald

Student Level:
All
Type of Workshop: Technique

Keeping a journal doesn’t have to be a time drain. Learn to keep a journal with just one sentence a day, two if you are ambitious. In this technique class, you will learn how to keep an interesting journal that you look forward to working in. We’ll play word games, make magic word tickets, invent new names for our different selves. You’ll learn Haiku writing and how to fight negative self-talk. You’ll also learn how to use words and abstract designs of your own invention to turn a regular journal into a raw-art-journal. This is a technique class, so you will experiment on different size sheets of paper provided by the instructor.

NOTE: This is a journal-writing class. We will make loose journal pages, but it is a technique class in how to keep and design a raw-art-journal. The idea is to make many pages and keep those you like. Raw-art is personal art using letterforms and abstract shapes you design yourself. Quinn is a certified creativity coach and will include elements of coaching into the class.

Materials provided by Instructor include:  Different types of papers, colored pencils, markers, tickets. Also, to share: magazines for cutting out words and images.

  • pen
  • colored pencils
  • scissors or craft knife
  • any writing instrument that you want to try out and already have. This can include a stick, a fountain pen, gel pen or markers. Bring materials you will use in other classes rather than purchase anything new.
