A self-taught Fiber and Doll Creator, Katie Gardenia made her first Art Figure over 20 years ago, after selling the Bubble Room Restaurant on Captiva Island.
Her work has been shown nationally in Galleries, Museums and Juried Art Shows, and is privately collected internationally. Living her life filled with art in 28 personally restored and redecorated homes, as well as the creator of numerous well-know restaurants, Katie Gardenia is now a full time artist. She divides her time teaching felt and doll making between her Gallery in Matalcha Florida , the Big Arts and Tower Gallery in Sanibel, and the Visual Arts Center at Punta Gorda.
Her technique in her own words “Each piece is done as if it were the first and last one made. Each person perceives color and form in his own way. Each person develops his own style through experience. It is the enjoyment of this experience which creates wonderful things for both artist and student alike. These sculpted figures represent a deep respect and joy of both the natural and creative world we live in. It is great to be able to be a part of this process and is truly a road without end. I am enjoying the journey!”
