Jo has been “doing” art from her earliest recollections, lying on the floor designing paper dolls and dolls clothes at the age of 6. Since the age of 12 she has designed and sewn her own clothes (she doesn’t have time to do that now with all her time devoted to creativity in other directions) and is an avid quilter, interior decorator, and gardener. Since Jo's retirement at the end of 2006, she is able to devote herself to her art full-time; except when she is spending time with her seven grandchildren. . She is also traveling with her Trunk Show of her own line of custom stamps known as The Queen’s Dresser Drawers and teaching at stores around the country. She has taught a wide variety of classes ranging from altered books and canvases, to watercolor techniques and coloring with colored pencils, to an assortment of hand made books. Jo has found her niche in custom made books and is always looking for different things to use for construction and embellishment. Some of her favorite things to use in her art, at least at the present, are any things rusty and bent. She has been known to go through a burnt out fire pit scouring for rusty bottle tops. If it is old, rusty and bent metal she will find some use for it. Jo finds that inspiration from other artists stretches her - her art is ever evolving. Email: Email jmcqueen6@cox.net |
