| Be Still My heart, an entire day of mosaic heaven! | $130 |

| Student Level: All | |
| Type of workshop: Process and Project |
Spend a day in the rich, spontaneous world of mosaics. We will all begin with the same sacred heart. At the end of the day you will marvel at all you have learned and how amazingly different and unique everyones hearts will be. Share a day and learn it all: preparation, adhesives, use of hand tools, borders, and grouting plus tried and true design principals for creating beautiful mosaics. Finally an art form that invites you to create with wild abandon and find the perfect home for your endless collection of found objects, treasured slivers of china, old family jewelry and more.
Due to adhesives needing 24 hours to set up, our day will culminate with a grouting demonstration of a sacred heart that I will mosaic before our class. You'll receive extensive hand outs for future reference to help guide you in grouting your heart after returning home.
Materials Fee of $20.00 payable to Instructor at class time includes: a large hand made wooden sacred heart 11 ¾" X 17 ¼". These ½" thick sturdy MDF designed sacred hearts are from my personal collection. They will be sealed on both sides, key holed for ease in hanging and ready for you when you arrive to explore the joyous world of mosaics. There will be a table set up with a wild array of tiny treasures to embellish your heart.... glass, mirror, buttons, found objects, vintage kitsch and oh so much more!
Supplies provided by Instructor: Adhesives, glass cutting station equipped with tools and an abundance of colorful glass, mosaic silver and gold foil for creating reflective highlights within your opaque piece.
Supply list:
-Students will need to wear comfortable work clothes or apron
-Please begin collecting by color or theme your old beads, buttons, junk jewelry, strings of pearls, grandma's chipped china, and your favorite kitsch. With a pallet
of personal memorabilia your mosaic will have stories to tell. A small fragment of robin's egg blue china from your babies first bowl, the handle from your
grandmother's favorite tea cup chipped long ago but never discarded....you can round out your perfect personal embellishments from the communal table.
-Leave your china intact...do not break into smaller pieces so you can create the shape you need as we go.
-Baby wipes
-Tweezers
-Mosaic glass & tile nippers
Limited hand tools will be available to share in class. Please contact teacher by email if you wish to purchase hand tools and receive them at class.
