| Type of Workshop: Process and Project |
Spend an active day creating learning to create 2 different styles of art quilts. Learn the process of design and production of a small original quilt and the joys of hand stitching. First, you’ll learn an easy, fearless way to create a painted animal portrait on fabric. Using a photograph of an animal or pet as your guide, you’ll paint and then begin stitching a one-of-a-kind ~8.5 x 11” art quilt. This technique could be used with other images, like landscapes, and the finished product could make a wonderful book or album cover. With the second technique, you’ll create a small fabric landscape quilt of your own design. Jane will help you with color, composition and stitching techniques. By the end of the day, you’ll have two quilts! (Students will most likely need to complete the stitching on their own time.)
Supplies provided by instructor include: Batting, muslin, acrylic paints, cotton canvas, tracing paper, letter stencils, rubber stamps and stamp pad, water containers, paper towels, irons and ironing surface
