Julie Haymaker Thompson

Julie graduated from Kendal School of Design in Michigan with a degree in Illustration. She then went to work at Hallmark Cards for the next 10 years as a greeting card designer. Wanting to move to the southwest, she then left Hallmark and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where she continued to do freelance illustration. She stayed there off and on trading her time between California and New Mexico. It was in California that she went to California College of the Arts and studied fine metalsmithing and ceramics, but still continued to freelance illustrate. After spending 22 years freelancing illustration, she decided to turn her focus to mixed media, teaching and creating art to sell. She then moved to the tiny town of Bisbee, AZ where she dug an old 1966 Aristocrat travel trailer out of the desert dirt, towed it home and after working on it for a year, turned it into a tiny living space and studio. She now lives in it full time and has embraced the gypsy lifestyle of a traveling artist on wheels.
