The term spontaneous watercolor can be deceiving. We have to learn some techniques and be open to discovery to make our painting appear spontaneous. It's my job and pleasure to help you achieve that! I love watching as each of you experience that joy and freedom. My methods take away the intimidation and fear that usually comes with trying new ideas. I remember all too well that feeling of unfamiliarity with the tools and methods. I guarantee you will learn so much and come away with an excitement for watercolor. This is your chance to PLAY! Please bring along photos of your pets and other animals. I will also bring lots of photos. Good photos help make good paintings. Look for a strong light source and shadows in your photographs. If you are unsure of your drawing skills, we can transfer your photos onto the watercolor paper.

Kit/Materials Fee (payable to instructor at class time):

  • Optional $50.00 includes (All materials may be kept by the student with the exception of some of the brushes, they are so expensive.):
  • 2 (22 x 30) sheets of 140 lb. watercolor paper, cut in 1/2
  • 4 sheets (15 X 11 approximately) good quality drawing paper
  • Professional grade watercolor paints (all the primaries and any other colors you can't live without)
  • Palette
  • Round brushes sizes 8, 10, 12
  • Water container
  • Pencil
  • Felt tip pen
  • PLEASE email Linda at Jlranch1@yahoo.com at least 3 weeks in advance of the workshop so that she can obtain your kit.

Student should bring:

  • If you prefer to bring along your own materials AND WILL NOT BE PURCHASING THE KIT, please bring the following: (Please DO let me know ahead of time if you will be bringing your own materials so that I don't have to haul so much to Phoenix with me. Big thanks ahead of time for that!!):
