This class, which is taken from my new book Awakening Your Creative Soul, will jump start the way you view the creative process and how you, the creative one, fit into the story. A beginner may create a piece based on intuitive and abstract ideas and a more advanced student may discover a way to tap into underlying feelings that enhance the drawing and painting process. We will use the inquiry process to look deep within and guide you to a deeper understanding of your personal sense of who you are. You are more than your outer labels. It is like peeling away the layers and getting to your core, or essence of yourself. You will use the words that you wrote down to make your self-portrait. This doesn’t need to be a physical representation, but it can be. You may choose to create a more abstract expressionist piece or even something more narrative. You will learn several collage techniques using dry adhesive and washi tape. Crackles and clay can add to the story and I will provide acrylic gels and pastes to adhere objects. Bring along a talisman if you like or something that represents who you are that may be added to the piece or create it using air dry clay. You will learn several fun acrylic techniques to jump-start your background and how to add some transparent layers too. You will discover new ways to approach your art and how you define your role in the process.
