There are countless techniques to water-coloring and each artist has their favorite. It's fun to learn all the different ways the medium can be used! In this workshop, I will guide you through the many ways I use watercolor and mixed media in my visual journals. During the morning, I will share all my "secrets", demonstrate, and give you plenty of practice time. Come afternoon, you will work from your own drawings and apply the techniques you've learned.

I am excited to see how each of you take what you've learned and make it uniquely your own!!

Kit/Materials Fee (payable to instructor at class time):

  • $5.00

Instructor Provided (for use in-class, and to share):

  • Cups for water
  • Paper towels
  • Watercolor pallet
  • Additional supplies for specific techniques
  • Workshop Instruction Booklet

Student should bring:

  • A personal visual journal book with heavy paper or watercolor sketchbook
  • Faber-Castell PITT artist pen - either Small, Fine or Medium or Waterproof India ink pen (Pigma Micron pens)
  • Pencil
  • Small personal objects to draw/paint
  • Reference Photos to draw/paint from
  • Watercolors (I prefer Winsor&Newton or Daniel Smith) - Reds: Alizarim Crimson, Cadmium Red Hue; Yellows: Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Yellow Hue; Blues: Cerulean, Thalo Blue; Other: Burnt Umber; OR a watercolor kit of your liking
  • Watercolor brushes - I prefer the brushes that will hold their shape and point well, not the overly soft traditional watercolor brushes
  • Assortment of PrismaColor colored pencils (must be PrismaColor regular pencils, NOT watercolor pencils)
