Loosen up and sit back while you experience hands on learning and education of liquid enamels and their full potential in a relaxed environment. I will focus on two very unusual and detailed techniques using liquid enamel to attain layers of color and torch firing. Start the day by forging and dapping to create unusual, dimensional pieces as a platform and base and learn how to apply enamels to these challenging surfaces. First study is sgraffito, a form of decoration made by scratching through a surface to reveal a contrasting color below, followed by a technique of wet packing of 80 grit enamel to add vibrant color into the recesses. In the afternoon, learn a liquid enamel painting technique using glass paint and graphite to create symbolism, images, text and color. Also included, learn matte surfaces, firing transparent colors to create vibrant patinas and crackle techniques in enamel. All enamels are finished and set by Torch firing and use multiple firing with a torch and tripod. Kit/Materials Fee (payable to instructor at class time):
