In this class we will create collage pieces and stitch them to strips of cloth to make what I call Vestments. The dictionary description says an official or ceremonial robe. They will be full of images and objects that are personal to each student because we are creating ourselves with these pieces.

In the first part of the class we will start creating our collage elements with mark making techniques on paper, plastering and stenciling fabric, creating matte medium skins, wire weaving, making little fabric bundles with stitching and painting over Nomad Women images that I will supply using watercolors and white acrylic paint. Once we have completed all of our elements, we will create complex and beautiful fabric collages and finish them off with hand stitching.
